Jump ahead to quick start tips for new users
This guide is broken into the following sections.
What you need to know
- Overview -
Industry-first technology: Developed in-house, offering unique capabilities not found elsewhere.
Sophisticated AI: Crawls the web, seeking out deals based on your specific criteria.
Automated scanning: Continuously monitors the web's largest database for matches
Email alerts: Receive notifications whenever a deal matching your preferences is found.
Effortless search: "Set and forget" your ideal cruise and let My Cruise Scanner do all the hard slog.
Open to all: All deals discovered are available to everyone.
Dedicated Interline scans: Airline staff can access a separate Interline Scanner (currently under development).
My Cruise Scanner advantage
Booking a cruise has traditionally been a bit like gambling, and as we all know it's next to impossible to beat the bank
But if can count the cards, if you can see the hand the bank holds, you really can beat them at their own game
This is the magic sauce behind My Cruise Scanner - a sauce you won't find anywhere else.
How it works
My Cruise Scanner is designed to work in three revolutionary ways:
1 - Current day matches
Find cruises that match your budget ‘today’
2 - Future matches
Set automated scans for new deals as they are released: Define your ideal cruise by month, region, and budget.
"Set and forget" your preferences: My Cruise Scanner works 24/7 to find deals matching your criteria.
Exclusive algorithm: Continuously scans the web for the latest fares from cruise lines.
Receive email alerts: Get notified directly when a matching deal is discovered.
3 - Cold hard data to help you decide when to book or when to wait
Underpinning our new website is a search engine connected to the Web's Largest Cruise Database
For the first time you can view data on all unsold cabins that the cruise lines have long kept hidden
This previously guarded insider information will help you gauge the likelihood of price drops based on current cabin availability
Discounting in the industry all swings on unsold inventory
If there are a lot of unsold cabins prices are likely to drop
If a cruise is nearly sold out, you will know instantly that you need to book to avoid missing out
You now, for the first time, have access to this mission critical information.
Quick tips
Quick start recommendations for first time users
Setting your filters
Month - Choose up to 2
Cruise Line - Choose 1 - [this will soon be increased to 3]
Price range - Avoid using ALL budgets as you will get hundreds of matches
How Long - there is a built-in buffer. EG 1 week = 5 to 9 days, 2 weeks = 10 to 18 days
Region - Choose 1 only
Country - Avoid using this filter initially as it ONLY captures start and end ports
Note: Results will be displayed only in line-item summaries. To find full details on any cruise we give you access to the Web's Largest Database.
Simply take note of the date of departure and ship, then scroll down and enter these to find the correct cruise.
Harnesses the power of the Web's Largest Cruise Data Base
Why are some cruise lines not listed?
Although we have access to data on all cruise lines, all ships and all regions the algorithm is set to only scan certain select cruise lines
These are mostly all-inclusive high-end brands where drinks and gratuities are all included in base fares
These cruise lines offer you a bigger bang for your buck, and avoid 'bill shock' on the last night of your cruise
For more information on this, and which cruise lines, are, and are not listed,
All prices stated are USD p/p, twin share - why?
Our aim is to capture the lowest fares, no matter where in the world they might be
The home of the most extreme discounting has always been, and remains, in the USA
This is why our algorithm is currently set to display USD only.
If you currently ignore or do not search for USD rates, you are in all likelihood missing out on the lowest fares available
By using only USD rates, we ensure we are always comparing apples with apples so that lowest available fares are not missed
Other currencies
We can sell many cruise lines in other currencies - ask via our Live Chat if this might be possible for any cruise you have shortlisted
Additional currencies will be available in future versions
Track what might happen to prices
The best indicator of what prices will do in the next season are what happened in the preceding one - cruises usually repeat year in, year out
Example: if you want a cruise to Alaska in a certain month next season, you should obviously set an auto scan for that specific month and year
If you are planning well in advance, we recommend setting up an additional scan for the current year as well
This will give you invaluable insights into likely price movements and help you determine:
What lowest floor price
When discounting is might start and end
Why are prices found by My Cruise Scanner different from Live pricing?
Results displayed by Cruise Scanner are historical in nature and not live, and from time to time, can differ from when you run a search via The Web's largest Cruise Data Base. While these results are indeed live all online systems are prone to quirks and errors in pricing from one moment to the next, and like airfares can change in the time it takes to refresh your screen. Fares within the cruise industry now fluctuate as rapidly as in aviation. As such no fare can be guaranteed until we have a firm hold in the system.
If you find a great Live fare via our search engine and there is only one cabin left, we recommend placing a hold on this when you find it.
How to change or cancel any automatic scan/email alerts
There is currently no way to change the filters after they have been set
Use the unsubscribe button on any email alert you receive to cancel that specific alert
Then simply return to My Cruise Scanner and use the filters to set up a new automated scan
No results displayed
Results are determined by the filters you set
Be mindful that My Cruise Scanner works in two distinct ways.
Current day matches.
Cruises will be displayed that fall without your set preferences today.
Auto alerts - Future matches
It is often the case that on the day you set your filters no matches will be found as prices may be beyond your set budget
However other matches will likely be found at a later time as prices start to drop and they fall within your set budget.
Mistakes to avoid when setting filters
Budget Filter
If you set a very low budget, or a single dollar range, there may be no, or too few cruises that fall within these price points.
TIP: A broader budget range will provide you with more options to choose from.
TIP: Too broad and you could end up with hundreds of matching cruises.
Recommendation: We suggest that you select your preferred budget range and then one additional higher band. It could be that your dream cruise will become available at just a few dollars more than the budget you have set.
Country Filter
If you select a single specific country this will severely reduce the number of matches found
NOTE: This option is only applicable to the first port of departure, not all countries visited
For example, if you want to cruise the Greek Islands it would be a natural assumption to select Greece
However, there could well be an awesome Greek Island itinerary that starts in Istanbul or Rome
In this example by selecting Greece your results would not capture or display this cruise
Recommendation: This filter should only be used if you are not able to be flexible and only want to depart from a certain country.
Track price movements on any cruise
Our new Cruise Codes are critical to help you track any price fluctuations on a specific cruise
Simply add the cruise code and select 'set up automatic alerts'
Every week you will be sent a report about the current best pricing for that particular cruise
You will then be able to monitor price fluctuations and make decisions about booking accordingly
NOTE: Results will not be limited by any other search preferences you have set or by your budget
Cruise Codes
These is a unique system we have created exclusively to enable our algorithm to track any cruise
Our code generator will create a code that you enter into our search box
It is critical that the data points entered are 100% correct or the system will not be able to track the correct cruise
NOTE: Some lines and other agencies may state the duration as being days - instead of our default being nights
If unsure it doesn't hurt, and is to your advantage to set two scans, for the lower and higher duration.
As a backup our system will also accept and scan Vacations to Go fast deal numbers.
Simply add the number proceeded by #12345
NOTE: Although this is a good back up, VTG may change their fast deal numbers at any time and as such that cruise will become untrackable by our system if you rely solely on a VTG fast deal number.
Hence why best practice is to set up specific cruise auto scans, one with our Cruise Code and one with the VTG number.
My Cruise Scanner is the simplest and most powerful searching tool available today and access to it is available for you use free of charge 24/7.
Conditions of use + Price fluctuations
As sophisticated as it is, there are some limitations and as this is a free service we cannot be held liable for any errors, or omissions in search results. Because we rely on third party websites and partners occasional our algorithm may not capture the cruise you want to track.
Additionally fares within the cruise industry now fluctuate as rapidly as in aviation.
No fare can be guaranteed until we have a firm hold in the system.
If you find a great fare via our search engine and there is only one cabin left, we recommend placing a hold on this when you find it.
Results displayed in line-item summaries do not contain clickable links.
To get full details on any cruise found harness the power of the Web's Largest Cruise Database which will take you deep inside the reservation systems of all the major cruise lines. You will then be able to:
View live availability and all unsold cabins
Price all available categories and upgrades
View deck plans and voyage maps
Calculate all taxes
Book and pay online
Then click the relevant cruise line
Next enter the ship, month into the filter:
Select your preferred departure date
Seclect your preferred category
You can then view interactive deck plans and see all unsold cabins - [Red Dots]
You can also view and price all available upgrades
All taxes and fees are automatically calculated
Change the filter for solo and multi occupancy pricing
Important notes about the system
All prices are in USD
Prices can differ from fares found by My Cruise Scanner
My Cruise Scanner does not display live pricing, only 'recent' historical data. As fares fluctuate wildly and potentially even in the time it takes you to refresh your screen, the only accurate pricing can be found using our live search as detailed above.
Our search engine is live - others are not. Many will be aware of Vacations to Go and Perks. It is important to understand that their websites do not display live data, and as such it is not uncommon to find stale deals, that are not available when you come to book.

Our exclusive algorithm has been designed it to be intuitive to use.
However, you will get better results and find better deals if you understand how it works. A few minutes now, could save you big money.
Although we can sell all cruise lines, all ships and all regions we have chosen to deliberately limit the number of cruise lines that we load into My Cruise Scanner.
The cruise lines we do not sell are:
Here's our reasoning:
Several times a week we take calls from people who have a spouse who is unconvinced about cruising, or worse, downright hostile towards it. The refrain we often hear is - We just want a short cheap cruise to see if we like it .... 'How bad can it be?'
If this sounds like you, listen up, as this advice you need to hear.
A short cheap cruise can be really, really bad. How bad? So bad that your partner will return home and say never again, and if that happens your cruising days will be over.
Don't be that person.
Ensure you get it right the first. If you can't afford a quality mid-range cruise now, skip cruising until you can.
Here's an apt analogy to help cement our argument; everyone loves a cheap bottle of wine, but if that wine is undrinkable, you have wasted your money.
And so, it goes with cruises. You work too hard and too long for your precious holidays, why waste all that effort and money on a holiday that might be at best hu-hum, or at worst a nightmare you want to never relive.
We only recommend and book cruises and brands that we would book for our own families. Many other agents will book any cruise you ask them to. Often on lines they have never sailed on.
We are different. We understand that our decision on which brands we have selected might be disappointing and every week we lose sales because of this policy, but in the end, we keep us customers.
Our business has been built on teaching people who have been rusted onto mid-range brands, that for the same money, or sometimes a great deal less, that we can get them sailing on 6 Star 4 Less.
What does that actually mean? We're talking 6 Star ships at 3 Star Prices.
How is this even possible?
Here's a concrete example: You've found a great 10-night cruise on a budget 3 to 4-star line around the Greek Islands for $1500 per person. That seems like an awesome deal.
But if you have cruised before, you will know that you have to budget to pay:
$20 p/p day for gratuities
$80 p/d for a basic' drinks package
That's about $100 p/p per day or $1000 extra you will need to pay for that 10-day cruise
Meaning that you will end up paying a minimum of $2500 p/p
And that's without and speciality coffee, dining of fluffy tropical cocktails.
Whereas every week we feature hundreds of all-inclusive deals on 6 Star ships for the same price or less.
Last year I hosted a group of 60 people on 6 Star Seabourn. This was a 10-night cruise and the fare most people paid was $2,100 p/p from Athens to Dubrovnik.
Seabourn is one of the best 6 Star brands in the world and their branding is focused on Extreme Luxury.
Included as standard on all Seabourn cruises:
A full balcony suite - 3 to 4 times the size a standard balcony on a mid-range line
Walk in robes
Marble bathroom with separate shower and bath
Separate lounge
Full open bar - including all cocktails
Mini bar - replenished daily with full size bottles of wine and spirits
All gratuities paid
A small ship of only 600 people instead of 3000
Staff to guest ratio of almost 1:1
White linen fine dining
All speciality dining
Our group enjoyed all of this is added value for $300 less than what a 3 Star cruise would have cost them.
We absolutely, positively do the same for you.
My Cruise Scanner has been designed to get you on 6 Star Ships 4 Less and this is our key point of difference between us and all other agencies.
We have two tiers of brands that are not included in the My Cruise Scanner Algorithm.
1/ Quality mid-range lines we recommend but we do not scan as they are do offer all-inclusive fares in most cases we can find better cheaper deals on higher end brands:
Note: Although the lines below are not as yet loaded into My Cruise Scanner.
You can still click the links below to check pricing and view all unsold cabins via The Web's Largest Cruise Data Base.
2/ Budget brands that we do not recommend due to poor service, ships and service failures:
P&O Australia:
Once a well renowned brand that built its reputation on immigration from the UK to Australia, has lost its lustre after chasing the bottom of the market.
You get what you pay for. And at the budget end you will be sharing your dream holiday with those happy to wallow in the bottom of the market, with meaning to be rude, think the Kuta Beach or Spring Break crowd.
Passengers report serious service failures, dated ships with visible rust, and a general sense of “meh.” It’s like ordering a gourmet meal and receiving a microwave dinner.
Costa Cruises:
Quirky Italian flair meets inconsistency. Some love it, others…not so much. Expect a mix of delightful pasta and puzzling decor decisions. When service is bad in Europe, it is really bad, and this is what you will generally find onboard. If things go wrong, you won't find any help or assistance onboard, or indeed before or after you board.
NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line):
Freestyle, casual cruising that sounds appealing to some, but with a side of hit-or-miss. While some of their new ships absolutely shine, the ones they send down to Australia are their clapped-out old relics, that are over run, with runaway kids and drunken parents. Unless your idea of a dream holiday is a crowded party where the DJ plays elevator music, best you don't book.
NCL Hawaii
This is only line that cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. Why? The Jones Act requires that to cruise between domestic ports in the USA a ship must be flagged in the USA and crewed by Americans. This means that their cost base is significantly higher where all other world-wide cruise lines are flagged in tax free havens.
As such the level of service and the age of the ship mean that quality of the product is sub-par of what international operators can offer.
The passenger mix is also problematic attracting a Vegas like party culture.
There are some great repositioning cruises to and from Hawaii between Australia and Alaska, however these are more expensive and only operate April or October. They are also longer and will involve many days at sea. If you want to cruise Hawaii, this is the only way we recommend doing so.
That being said, occasionally we hear that some people have enjoyed cruising with NCL, but these reports are greatly outweighed by reviews where others report to us that their dream holiday was anything but.
2/3 Night Taster Cruises
Of all our advice here, take note most of this. Avoid at all costs 2- or 3-night cruises. Why? Because they’re often packed with partygoers celebrating hen and buck’s nights. Picture rowdy dance-offs and quirky inflatable pool toys. If you’re seeking tranquillity and genuine exploration, opt for longer voyages.
We fully understand that this might be disappointing for you to hear, and we routinely turn business away like this every week. Many agents will book any cruise or line you ask them to. We won't do that. We would rather be up front and honest which means we will lose some business, but at the end of the day we will maintain the loyalty of our customers.
All prices stated are USD p/p, twin share - why?
Our aim is to capture the lowest fares, no matter where in the world they might be
The home of the most extreme discounting has always been, and remains, in the USA
This is why our algorithm is currently set to display USD by default.
The system automatically converts all result into AUD, but these are an approximation only
If you currently ignore or do not search for USD rates, you are in all likelihood missing out on the lowest fares available
By using only USD rates, we ensure we are always comparing apples with apples so that lowest available fares are not missed
Other currencies
We can sell many cruise lines in other currencies - ask via our Live Chat if this might be possible for any cruise you have shortlisted
Additional currencies will be available in future versions
If you have shortlisted, or are perhaps 'rusted' onto, certain mid-range brands such as Celebrity, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, and Princess you may be frustrated and wonder why these are not included as options within My Cruise Scanner. These are all quality brands that we do actually recommend and sell.
However, as experts in discounting within the industry it is our experience that for the price that most people pay for a mid-range cruise, that for the same money, or sometimes a great deal less, that we really can get you sailing on 6 Star 4 Less
How is this even possible?
Here's a concrete example: You've found a great 10-night cruise on a budget 3 to 4-star line around the Greek Islands for $1500 per person. That seems like an awesome deal. And at first glance it is.
But if you have cruised before, you will know that you have to budget to pay:

Meaning that you will end up paying a minimum of $2500 p/p for that $1500 cruise
And that's without and speciality coffee, dining of fluffy tropical cocktails.
Whereas every week we feature hundreds of all-inclusive deals in on 6 Star ships for the same price or less.
Here's a concrete example. Last year I hosted a group of 60 people on 6 Star Seabourn. This was a 10-night cruise and the fare most people paid was $2,100 p/p from Athens to Dubrovnik.
Seabourn is one of the best 6 Star brands - they market themselves as the home of 'Extreme Luxury'.
Included as standard on all Seabourn cruises:
A full balcony suite - 3 to 4 times the size a standard balcony on a mid-range line
Walk in robes
Marble bathroom with separate shower and bath
Separate lounge
Full open bar - including all cocktails

Staff to guest ratio of almost 1:1
White linen fine dining
All speciality dining
Our group enjoyed all of this is added value for $300 less than what a 3 Star cruise would have cost them.
We absolutely, positively can do the same for you.
This is why we have decided to focus the first version of My Cruise Scanner on all-inclusive brands. We hope to be able to offer mid-range brands in future updates.
The good news is if you are still keen to quote and book any of the mid-range brands below - you can still do so via The Web's Largest Cruise Data Base by which you will be able to check live price and view all unsold cabins.
Tips and Hacks - Setting filters for automated scans and email alerts
Quick start recommendations for first time users
Setting your filters
Month - Choose up to 2
Cruise Line - Choose 1 - [this will soon be increased to 3]
Price range - Avoid using ALL budgets as you will get hundreds of matches
How Long - there is a built-in buffer. EG 1 week = 5 to 9 days, 2 weeks = 10 to 18 days
Region - Choose 1 only
Country - Avoid using this filter initially as it ONLY captures start and end ports
Specific Cruise Scan - To avoid your cruise not being tracked correctly set up two scans, one with our Cruise Code and a second one using the fast deal number from VTG. Note this function is not yet operational.
Advanced tips and hacks
Track what might happen to prices
Cruises in particular regions generally repeat every season
The best indicator of what prices will do in the next season are what happened in the preceding one
Additionally, discounting is cyclical, just like in retail stores
If you are looking for a cruise to Alaska in a certain month next season, you should obviously set an auto scan for that month
If you are planning well in advance, we recommend setting up a scan for the current year as well
This will give you invaluable insights into likely price movements and help you determine:
The lowest floor price that may be repeated
When discounting is potentially likely to start and potentially end
Again, no other platform offers you such mission critical data to enable you to make an informed decision.
Mistakes to avoid when setting filters
Budget Filter
If you set a very low budget, or a single dollar range, there may be no, or too few cruises that fall within these price points.
TIP: A broader budget range will provide you with more options to choose from.
TIP: Too broad and you could end up with hundreds of matching cruises
TIP: If you set all budgets your inbox will be flooded with hundreds of matches
Recommendation: We suggest that you select your preferred budget range and then one additional higher band. It could be that your dream cruise will become available at just a few dollars more than the budget you have set.
Country Filter
If you select a single specific country this will severely reduce the number of matches found
NOTE: This option is applicable to the first and port - ONLY - and not all countries visited on an itinerary.
For example, if you want to cruise the Greek Islands it would normally be a natural assumption to select Greece
However, there could well be an awesome Greek Island itinerary that starts in Istanbul or Rome
In this example by selecting Greece your results would not capture or display this particular cruise
Recommendation: This filter should ONLY be used if you are not able to be flexible and only want to depart from a certain country.
Track price movements on any specific cruise
Our new Cruise Codes are critical to help you track any price fluctuations on a specific cruise
Simply add the cruise code and select 'set up automatic alerts'
Every week you will be sent a report about the current best pricing for that particular cruise
You will then be able to monitor price fluctuations and make decisions about booking accordingly
NOTE: Results will not be limited by any other search preferences you have set or by your budget
Cruise Codes
This is a unique system we have created to enable our algorithm to track any cruise
Our code generator will create a code that you simply enter into our search box
It is critical that the data points entered are 100% correct or the system will not be able to track the correct cruise
NOTE: Some lines and other agencies may state the duration as being 'days - instead of our default being nights
If unsure it doesn't hurt, and is to your advantage to set two scans, for the lower and higher duration.
As a backup our system will also accept and scan Vacations to Go fast deal numbers.
Simply add the number proceeded by # EG: #12345
NOTE: Although this is a good back up, VTG may change their fast deal numbers at any time and as such that cruise will become untrackable by our system if you rely solely on a VTG fast deal number.
Hence why best practice is to set up specific cruise auto scans, one with our Cruise Code and one with the VTG number.
- Cruises will be displayed that fall without your set preferences today.
Auto alerts - Future matches - It is often the case that on the day you set your filters no matches will be found as prices may be beyond your set budget
However other matches will likely be found at a later time as prices start to drop and they fall within your set budget.
Our exclusive algorithm has been designed it to be intuitive to use.

Setting up a scan for a specific cruise - tips, cautions and hacks
Note: This function is not yet fully operational, we hope it will be by 1 January 2025
Across the web sometimes the same cruises may be advertised by nights or alternatively by days. This is a mission critical data point as the algorithm will only search and return results on the basis of what you enter into our cruise code. Get it wrong and your dream cruise will not be able to be tracked.
Recommendation: If you are unsure if a cruise is 14 days or 13 nights, we suggest you set up an alert using 13 and 14 as the cruise. This should ensure the correct duration is captured and our algorithm will be able to find the cruise you want to track. The incorrect scan will be null and void and return no results or generate any emails.
Recommendation: A further fall-back step you can take is to visit www.vacationstogo.com and find the Fast Deal number they have allocated. Or capture this off our line-item results.
Our system is designed to search by both, or either, our own Cruise Code or any VTG Fast Deal Number.
Simply enter the full number including the leading #' EG: #12345.
Recommendation: You set up separate auto scans using our own Cruise Code and additionally the applicable VTG fast deal number
Note: We have no control over any changes to the Fast Deal numbers that VTG might use, so results cannot be guaranteed.
Although our Cruise Code is unique for every cruise on sale in the world, our technology is not perfect. We are continually refining the algorithm to improve results return, but there will be occasions when certain cruises are not picked up initially or tracked continually.
As this is a free app, we can accept no liability for any errors or omissions.
Our exclusive algorithm has been designed it to be intuitive to use.

The really great news about our new website and My Cruise Scanner is that all results and deals are open to everyone, irrespective of whether you work for an airline or not.
Indeed, many of our deals are routinely close to, or as low, as closed interline rates that are only open to those working in aviation.
Additionally, we can now offer huge discounts of up to 90% many months or even years in advance, instead of traditionally only having access to such significant discounts at the last minute.
Which is one of the reasons we need to change our name from Last Minute Cruises.
Ailine staff who are eligible should refer to our separate interline section.
Airline staff that will soon be able to switch to My Cruise Scanner Interline via the main menu.
Verification is required to gain access, to quote and to book.
My Cruise Scanner Interline works in exactly the same way but will display only interline fares initially.
