Want to know if you should book now or can afford to wait? The number of unsold cabins remaining is the best indicator of whether prices may rise or fall. The cruise lines have long hidden this mission-critical data, which you will not find anywhere else. If you don't understand the numbers - ask us for advice.
Here are some other key highlights of the new Crystal:
Reimagined Suites and Guest Rooms with some of the largest footprints at sea.
All come with hot and cold butlers on tap.
Fully all-inclusive cruising with access to a full open bar, mini-bar, and all specialty dining with no additional surcharge.
Whether you're a seasoned cruiser or a first-timer, the new Crystal Cruises promises an experience like no other.
So, pack your bags and get ready for a journey of a lifetime!
Crystal Cruises has been reborn. She was always a rare and exceptionally exotic bird with only two ocean-going ships and a fan base every bit as fanatical as Taylor Swift’s army. They were just a tad more mature and significantly wealthier.
So rare that when the industry was shut down for two years, Crystal went the way of the dodo and became as deceased as that poor old parrot in that Monty Python skit.
During the fire sale of assets, a new and secretive group of investors swooped in and snapped up the two ships for a song. When new cruise ships routinely cost more than a billion each, the Crystal Serenity was sold for $103 million and the Crystal Symphony for $25 million.
It was eventually revealed that the new owners were Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio and Abercrombie & Kent.
The industry was abuzz with chatter and much pearl-crushing as Manfredi had left the industry in a flourish of publicity—and impeccable timing—back in 2020 by selling the cruise line he had started and owned, Silversea, to Royal Caribbean for over one billion dollars.
Abercrombie & Kent is an equally world-renowned luxury travel brand, founded by Geoffrey Kent in 1962. They pioneered ultra high-end luxury adventure travel. Think Safari by private jet vibes.
And so the industry waited with bated breath to see what they were cooking up.
Eventually, when the new Crystal was revealed—just over a year ago—it became evident that the pearl clutching had been justified.
This new incarnation maintains an obvious connection to the original DNA with the same luxurious standards and impeccable service that made it a favorite among the well-to-do set.
But there's a twist!
Whereas the rest of the industry—even the 6-star lines—are moving towards bigger, higher-capacity ships, Manfredi did something extraordinary—he reduced capacity from 900 passengers to only 600 by combining cabins to make bigger suites.
That had never happened in the industry before. And probably never will again.
