If you want access to interline cruise discounts (your golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory), you’ll need a Letter of Service.
The process depends on your Ansett employment status.
If you were employed by Ansett at the time of collapse
Email Chelsea Rowe at CRowe@kordamentha.com to request a Letter of Service.
Subject: Ansett Letter of Service
Include the following details in this order:
-
Full name (including any changes since Ansett)
-
Date of birth
-
Employee number (if known) or other identifying details (address at the time, role, etc.)
-
Email address for the letter to be sent to
-
Please be polite and patient. Do not pressure or harass Chelsea—we don’t want to jeopardise this opportunity for others.
If you retired from Ansett before the collapse
You must provide strong evidence of your Ansett employment. Gather the best documentation you can before submitting your request.
Records may be incomplete. If your request is declined based on available evidence, the decision is final—even if additional documents surface later. Please accept any outcome gracefully; complaints or hostility could put this entire process at risk.
Important notes
Please do not inundate Chelsea with questions. If she can help, she will.
While waiting, you’re welcome to start browsing cruise options. In many cases, bookings can be made as long as the letter is provided before departure or as required by the cruise line.
If you can’t obtain a Letter of Service
All is not lost. Contact my team with whatever supporting documentation you have—there are one or two cruise lines that may still extend discounts on a discretionary basis.
Once you have secured a letter of service, these are the crusie lines that 'may' extend discounts to you:
✅ Cruise lines that DO permit defunct airline employees
(Explicitly stated in their terms)
Oceania
Retired airline employees including those retired from now‑defunct airlines are eligible.
Seabourn
Explicitly includes retired airline employees of defunct airlines.
❌ Cruise lines that DO NOT permit defunct airline employees
(Explicitly prohibited)
Carnival
“Retired employees of non‑existing (defunct) airlines do not qualify for the interline rate.”
Explora Journeys
Retired airline employees are eligible only if the airline is still in operation (explicit example given: Pan Am does not qualify).
⚠️ Cruise lines whose terms are silent or ambiguous on defunct airlines
(No explicit inclusion or exclusion stated)
-
AMA Waterways
-
Avalon Waterways (program currently inactive)
-
Azamara
-

-
Crystal
-
