The discounting cycles still intrigue, even me, after nearly 10 years of doing this.

The various brands drop discounts in and out, which often to outsiders it might seem like there is no rhyme or reason. However, when you watch these things as closely as I do, patterns are certainly evident.

This week, for example, Azamara, which usually plays a very competitive discounting game most weeks, has decided to sit this week out.

Whereas Seabourn, which has been rather tardy with significant discounts, has come in hard and fast, with some sensational deals on longer, more exotic adventures, including real bucket list stuff such as the Amazon, Antarctica and the infamous, mysterious Northwest Passage. You can now sail for a month or more at prices as low as what we would expect to see for a week when at full retail pricing.

Here are a few of my absolute top picks this week.
